Aug. 5, 2009 - PRLog -- Leadership development is vital in surviving today’s competitive and volatile economy, according to Will Marré, acclaimed leadership development speaker and CEO coach. Passionately speaking before the executive leadership of an emerging health and wellness company, Marré asserted that the leadership models of the past 30 years are completely inadequate to deal with today’s complex challenges. In a world where confidence in business leadership is at a low point, Marré draws on a new leadership model for the 21st century to challenge leaders to transform their thinking, grow their goals and abandon tired, 20th century strategy.

Fred Harburg, former President of Motorola University, states of Marré’s powerful presentations, “Will combines the remarkable talent of a world-class generator, with the pragmatism of a world-class implementer.  He encourages leaders to think new thoughts and act in new ways.”

Distrust in leadership is widespread.  “Surveys Show That Big Business Has a P.R. Problem” (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/09/business/09backlash.htm...) in the N.Y. Times reports that 72 percent feel that wrongdoing is widespread in industry and only 2 percent checked off “very trustworthy” to describe the CEO of very large companies.

According to a Business Week/Harris poll (http://hr.blr.com/news.aspx?id=3812), only 33 percent of Americans feel large companies have ethical business practices, just 26 percent believe they are straightforward and honest in their dealing with others, and 79 percent believe corporate executives put their own personal interests ahead of workers’ and shareholders’.

Furthermore, 88 percent of consumers distrust big companies, 86 percent view business as negatively impacting the public good, and 76 percent of employees have observed illegal or unethical conduct by their employer in the past 12 months.

According to Marré, nothing illustrates our society’s toxic distrust of leaders so vividly as today’s health care debates.  He states, “Sometimes things are so broken that compromise between two flawed approaches creates only an illusion of progress.”  The primary fault, according to Marré, is clearly with the business leaders of health care.  “The leaders of the health care industry have abjectly failed to build trust and confidence with their consumers so they have lost their influence,” he contends.  “As a group they are viewed as profit-driven, self-serving elites completely disconnected by those who actually use health care.”

Marré is determined to counter the widespread leadership failure and distrust through his leadership development training.  Marré presents a new leadership model that stimulates leaders to think of radically new solutions to the challenges they face. He states, “Capitalism is being re-invented right before our eyes.  Our greatest economic opportunities lie in making every industry sustainable.”  Using case studies of his own clients, Marré shows how unique value can be created from discovering a new set of competitive factors uncovered through his Unique Value Compass.

Drawing from extensive consumer and employer research, Marré charts a path with a mind-changing framework of leadership that yields not only a richer, healthier world but also a richer, healthier company. He states in “Leadership Development Speaker, Will Marré, Trains Business Leaders for the Future,” (http://www.prweb.com/releases/leadershipexpert/leadership...)  “With the right leadership development, you can transform your company into a company that knows its unique value, generates fierce customer loyalty, redefines its industry, carves its own market, and creates sustaining abundance.”

Marré’s vast leadership background gives him a leading edge in leadership development.  As cofounder and former President of the Covey Leadership Center (7 Habits of Highly Effective People) and personal leadership coach and advisor to multi-billion dollar companies such as Disney and Procter and Gamble, Marré brings a unique passion to his message that inspires leaders to embrace change.

Marré states, “While the world we live in presents many challenges to leaders, these challenges create an amazing opportunity.  With a new kind of leadership, we can transform the landscape of business, reestablish trust, and create a future we want our children to inherit.”
