Parkinson's Disease Cruise Launched By The Parkinson Research Foundation

On the 8th of January next year, a cruise to the Bahamas will depart Miami that will teach techniques to manage Parkinson’s disease.

Aug. 5, 2009 - PRLog -- The Parkinson Research Foundation will sponsor the inaugural New Hope for Parkinson’s Cruise, leaving the Port of Miami on January 8th, 2010.  This 3-night cruise aboard Norwegian cruise lines, is designed for Parkinson’s disease patients, caregivers and their families, and will provide a series of seminars and lectures about this disease.

“Parkinson’s disease patients are often isolated because of their condition.  We believe that this cruise will provide them with an opportunity to both socialize with others who suffer from the same disease, but also to learn about how to manage the disease once they leave the ship,” suggested Larry Hoffheimer, Chairman of the Parkinson Research Foundation.

The program for the cruise will include presentations by prominent Parkinson’s disease physicians and clinicians, Dr. Juan Sanchez-Ramos, Dr. Stuart Isaacson, etc.  Patients and their caregivers can also participate in support group meetings, exercise classes and wellness seminars.  For more information, contact Amy Lyon, alyon.prf@gmail.com, or log on to www.parkinsonresearchfoundation.org.
