Monroe, MI – Looking at homes can be overwhelming;
Mark Goedert of Goedert real estate spoke at a meeting designed to prepare new home buyers with information and resources they need to make a good decision. “Play the game of nines,” said Goedert. “Before you begin looking at homes make a list of nine things you want in your home and a list of nine things you do not want. The list can include features, neighborhood, style or lot size; whatever is important to you.”
Mark explained how the list becomes a score card to be used to keep things in perspective when one is looking at dozens of different homes. “You will not remember all the details of each home; the list helps you narrow down your choice before you hire a home inspector to give his opinion.”
Another thing Mark talked about was the “skin and bones” of the home. “The bones are things that cannot be changed, including location, view, lot size or school district. The skin represents things that you can easily change like paint, wallpaper and window treatments.”
