Aug. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation is delighted to present “FISH TALE”, the Story of Peter.  John Maxwell performs this one-man show as we look at the life of Jesus through the eyes of an illiterate blue-collar worker whose name is Peter. The show will be presented on Sunday, October 4th at 1:00pm at the SCH Auditorium.  This enjoyable afternoon will include the performance plus a down home lunch of turkey and dressing and all the trimmings for the entire family.  Tickets are available in advance only and are $25 per person for SCHF members, $30 for non-members and $15 for children ages 10 and under.  Tickets go on sale Friday, August 7 and are available at the SCHF Business Office, Paper Plus and Highway 61 Coffeehouse.

Dressed in a work shirt, jeans and Brogans, Peter begins to talk about Jesus, a man he claims was the “most impossible down-right perfect person I ever knowed”. How did Peter feel about his name change? What was it like to have a net full of fish after having tossed his net on the other side of the boat?  This wonderfully humorous and highly moving journey takes Peter to Jesus the Messiah on the lake catching fish, to the raising of Lazarus from the dead, to walking on water, the Garden of Gethsemane, the cross and the resurrection.

Peter is a born story-teller and loves to talk. He has stories about how Jesus drowned a herd of pigs, raised Lazarus from the dead, and walked on water. Then he begins to share what it was like being around Jesus the night he was arrested and taken to be crucified. From the first meeting, to the many miracles he witnessed, to hearing the cock crow, to seeing Jesus at last on side of the river cooking fish over a charcoal fire, this is a riveting and highly entertaining story of not only Jesus and his journey to the cross, but also of Peter and his journey to forgiveness.

Founded by John Maxwell, Fish Tale Group, has produced films based on Biblical stories and characters.  Through the modern lens of the twenty-first century, THE WOMAN AT THE WELL, THE MIRACLE AT CANA, and CHRIST HEALING A BLIND MAN have been introduced anew for today’s generation.  With this very innovative approach through mock-documentary, we see the characters in this story brought to life again with a new and exciting interpretation!  With very few props, John weaves a story with six different monologues of Biblical characters who, for many, have petrified, and infuses them with a new energy!

Be a part of this moving experience. Space is limited and reservations are required.  To register or for more information, call the SCHF business office at (601) 631-2997 or email info@southernculture.org.
