The Chhari Mubarak, holy mace of Lord Shiva reached Sheshnag, 3352 metres above sea level, this afternoon after covering a 12-km hilly track from Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional Pahalgam route.

After a night's halt at Sheshnag on the occasion of ''Tryodashi'', at a height of 3352 metres above sea level, the holy mace will leave for Panjtarni, 3657 metres above sea level for a night's stop here tomorrow.

The custodian of the Charri, Mahant Deepender Giri, carrying the holy mace, led the devotees, including good number of Sadhus, to march from Chadanwari to Sheshnag to cover the track on foot this morning.

The Chhari reached Chandanwari yesterday in the afternoon from Pahalgam, 100 km from here in south Kashmir, where puja was held in Ganesh temple across the river Lidder at Ganeshbal.

After a night' stay at Panjterni tomorrow on the occasion of ''Chaturdashi'', the holy mace will be taken inside the Amarnath temple, situated at 3952 metres, on August 5, on the occasion of Purnima (Raksha Bandhan) and will start the return journey the same day.

After a night's halt at Panchtarni on August 6 on Pratipada, it will stay at Pahalgam for a night where ''Punjan'' and ''Visarjan'' ceremonies will be performed on the bank of river Lidder.

He said traditional Kari-Pakouri Bhandara will be organised for sadhus which marks the culmination of the pilgrimage of Amarnath and the Charri will be brought back to its Abode at Srinagar.
