Team ByteWyze Bikes to Raise Funds for Children and Adults with Special Needs

Company founder and Team cyclist looks to make ride to support Tammy Lynn Center an annual event

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 04, 2009 -
CARY, NC – Representatives from ByteWyze Computer Services recently participated in the Ride for the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.  The one-day event was held on Saturday, June 27th and started at North Carolina State University Centennial Campus in Raleigh, NC.  ByteWyze CEO Phillip Hare and company Account Executive Chip Harrell both cycled the 50K course and raised over $3,000.

The Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities (www.tammylynncenter.org) was established in 1969 by parents of children with special needs: Billy and Ruth Pierce (whose daughter, the late Tammy Lynn Pierce, is the Center's namesake), Mr. and Mrs. C. Durham Moore, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin B. Tucker.  The center offers education, residential, and family support services to children and adults with special needs.  Hare says that he takes great enjoyment and pride when given the opportunity to combine two of the things that he feels very passionate about: cycling and charity, and the Tammy Lynn Center ride provided such an opportunity.

“There are so many wonderful causes out there, I wish I had the time (and energy) to support every one,” says Hare.  “After much consideration, I knew the first charity I had to support was the Tammy Lynn Center.  As a Cary native, I was exposed at an early age to the struggles young Tammy faced in her life and realized how easy it is to take good health for granted.”

Located on a nine-acre campus near NC State's Centennial Campus, the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities offers Early Intervention Day Services, Therapy Services, Respite Care Program, ICF/MR Residential Services, and Community Residential Services to nearly 400 children and adults with special needs.  For 40 years, the Tammy Lynn Center remains committed to providing the individuals it serves with the opportunity to maximize their abilities in a loving, nurturing environment.

Later this year, Harrell plans to ride in the Bike MS: Historic New Bern Ride 2009 sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on September 12-13.  Hare will be participating in the Jimmy V Ride for Research on October 25 and says that as long as he can ride, he plans to make the Ride for the Tammy Lynn Center an annual event.
