Powerflow Yoga in Chatham is hosting a series of workshops with Lisa Goodwin, a nationally renowned yoga teacher and life coach. The three day program starting August 7, 2009, includes a series of yoga classes focusing on posture flow, precise alignment, and hip opening poses in the heated Powerflow studio. In addition to the classes, Goodwin is including a series of group life coaching sessions for workshop participants.
Goodwin is known for her unique and inspirational style of teaching which combines both life coaching and physical yoga asana postures. Her classes help students reflect and bring awareness to their highest potential while realizing all of the physical benefits of traditional yoga postures and precise alignment.
The life coaching sessions are designed to bring more harmony and well being to the lives of participants. Group exercises address ways people can free themselves from limiting beliefs and fears while adding clarity to what is most important in a person’s life. The sessions show how to integrate spiritual principles into daily life, build self-esteem and self-confidence, and expand self-awareness.
“My life's quest has been the ongoing pursuit of spiritual and personal growth,” states Goodwin. “I've been told that I have a unique ability to communicate both intuitively and directly, which inspire others.”
Goodwin believes a simple change of perception can alter one’s life experiences.
“Through my journey I have learned spiritual laws and concepts that are both universal and straightforward,”
Goodwin began teaching health and fitness classes in 1978 and transitioned to yoga in 1993. She has trained with some of the most well known teachers in the country. Lisa is ERYT500 certified and has over 10,000 hours of teaching experience. Her students range from beginners to professional athletes. She currently teaches at Jimmy Barkan’s Fort Lauderdale studio (http://www.barkanmethod.com/
Powerflow Yoga opened in 2007 in the heart of the Chatham (New Jersey) business district. The studio offers classes in a variety of yoga practices including vinyasa, jivamukti, and “power” flow classes. The heated studio room enables class participants to utilize sweating as a mechanism for natural healing. The heat accelerates the effective release of toxins from the body and is combined with “ujjayi breathing” for healthy cleansing.
