Health Insurance Reform Justice – And The Return Of The American Fighting Spirit.

Aug. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- The countdown clock is ticking on health care reform. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi promises that some type of program will be passed soon in that chamber.
But what will Americans get? 1. A continued screwing at the hands of unscrupulous health insurance and pharmaceutical companies that are already swimming in cash? 2.The worst kind of disdain from politicians who line their pockets with cash insurance premium kickbacks while ignoring those they’re supposed to represent? Even the president can’t explain what is supposed to be his own plan.
Stan Cotton, creator of www.patrioticallycorrect.org and a staunch advocate of fairness for all in the health care marketplace, declares that enough is enough. Traditional debate, serious conversation and protestations that don’t rock the political boat are pointless.
Big insurance companies can be beaten only with unconventional approaches.
Unorthodox behavior, truth and humor are the holy trinity needed to break citizens out of the doldrums that leaves them in the dark, with few answers and even fewer dollars.
The public can be jarred to unorthodox action only by touching raw nerves. And in a world of economic turmoil, rampant job losses, skyrocketing energy costs and a wave of home foreclosures, everyone is just a few degrees from the boiling point.
“I think all the claims and counterclaims that create a ‘fog of confusion’ could be sorted out with truth and humor,” said Cotton.
Why not? Talk of health care reform is riddled with lies and fraught with misinformation – from the White House and Congress on down. Truth would be the breath of fresh air that everyone needs. And humor can defuse the most pompous corporate moneygrubbers. It’s hard to lie and laugh and the same time.
Humor fits the new fight formula because it’s unconventional. No swaggering, slathering politician with dollar bills flopping out of his pocket expects to be hit with humor. It’s the right cross that will score a knockout for America. Citizens must realize that conventional ways of fighting on D.C. turf don’t work. Benevolent bromides and honey-coated political promises are out.
The unexpected grabs attention and the unorthodox is the antidote to a world of mediocrity.
“What we need is a healthy injection of truth,” said Cotton. “Want Page 2
better health care? Don’t listen to the poppycock of some puffed-up bureaucrat. Demand it. Get in his or her face and tell them you want the job done.” Public displays of anger and frustration have lost their acrimony to political correctness. So change. What works is patriotic correctness. That means to make your point -- no holds barred, no courtesies, no bland acceptance.
A good old-fashioned fight directed at those who are fleecing the public will draw more attention and enthusiasm than any lawsuit, letters to the editor or tons of e-mail your congressperson could ever attract.
