Greenward Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has issued an open invitation to universities and other research partners to participate in a Joint Program to study the potential benefits of its "Wake Convergence and Swirl Cancellation"
Larry Haworth, the company’s CEO, stated “The company sent out a letter to potential participants and we are excited by the initial response we have received. Parties that are interested in this program may find more information on our website. The program is designed to validate and fully quantify the potential benefits of this phenomenon, and to expand the existing knowledge base of the wake effects of wind turbines.”
The company first became interested in wake convergence and swirl cancellation analysis from early studies and prototype testing it performed using models of its Quad Array Turbine. Recognizing the potential benefits of this effect on the overall productivity of commercial wind farms, Greenward Technology management has presented the results of the early studies at industry conventions and has attempted to further the industry’s knowledge of these wake characteristics. To continue the research in this area, management decided to seek academic and scientific participation from those interested and capable in this field.
The study is planned to commence in the fourth quarter of 2009 subject to the formation of the team and agreement upon the program’s objectives and methodology.
