3D Training Academy Introduces More Effective Approach To Teaching 3D for Games

Out of disappointment with other training programs, the 3D Training Academy designed a new 3D Game Art & Design program to prepare students for industry.

Aug. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- BELLEVUE, Washington -- Game industry studios and talent recruiters report that around 80% of all applicants fall short of their expectations for job openings. Additionally, all too often, the students themselves have expressed disappointment with the poor quality of their 3D art training and instructors. The 3D Training Academy has launched a new 3D Game Art and Design program entitled “Sky-Avengers” to meet the needs of the students and studios.

“As a former unsatisfied 3D student myself, it was imperative to me that our program address the many shortfalls I experienced in my 3D education,” explains Michael Ingrassia, Academic Director for the 3D Training Academy (http://www.Sky-Avengers.com/block3.html). “Several years ago, I focused my career solely on teaching 3D applications and production skills and have taught in several training academies around the world. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how to convey the complexities of 3D techniques and methodology.”

Some of the effective methods the 3D Training Academy focuses on are progressive learning, assigning projects with production schedules and milestones, and assessments by industry professionals.

Over the course of the 24-week program, students become immersed in a "real world" game production studio setting using the latest 3D applications (Maya, 3ds Max, Zbrush, Unreal), techniques and tools of the trade that are being used for games like Gears of War and World of Warcraft and in animation studios like Pixar and Disney. The 3D Training Academy has worked closely with several leading game artists and studios to develop a program (http://www.Sky-Avengers.com/block1.html) that includes the professional techniques of high end 3D game development that are used in every day production.

“A degree, although important, won't guarantee you get a job in games,” adds Melody Brown, Executive Director at the academy. “Studios are looking for candidates who are production ready and can hit the ground running. Graduates of the 3D Game Art and Design program will be ‘industry ready’ by graduation.”

Enrollment has officially started for the program beginning on September 21, 2009.

This is a serious program focused on training artists with a strong desire to learn and hone their skills with industry veterans.
