PRLog - Aug. 1, 2009 - PORTLAND, Ore. -- Multnomah County Library has begun "Welsh Month" at the Central Library in downtown Portland, as part of the Left Coast Eisteddfod Celtic Arts Festival.

Authors Niall Griffiths and Chris Keil will arrive from Wales to appear at an author's salon at the Left Coast Eisteddfod and for a free reading and Q&A event at the Central library on Thursday, August 20th. Works by both authors are available at the library and are part of a display in the first floor lobby.
Welsh-American musician and teacher, John Good, will travel from Arizona to give a presentation on "1500 Years of Welsh Poetry" at the Central library on Wednesday, August 19th, and will appear at the Left Coast Eisteddfod Saturday, August 22nd as half of Oceans Apart, a Celtic roots music duo. John Good is a native Welsh speaker and will also give a Welsh language lesson at the Eisteddfod and demonstrate the Pibgorn, an ancient Welsh pipe.
Niall Griffiths, Chris Keil and John Good will all be appearing at the Left Coast Eisteddfod events at the Crystal Ballroom on August 21st and 22nd. Tickets to evening shows are available at ticketmaster.com, entry to all daytime events is $5.00 for ages 13 and above at the door.
"We're very excited to sponsor these events at the library," says organizer Gaabriel Becket, "The Multnomah County Library has a great selection of books about Wales and by Welsh authors for all ages and tastes. We hope to make more people aware of them and more aware of who you're already reading that's Welsh and you didn't know it."
