Aug. 1, 2009 - PRLog -- A new preschool is opening where the curriculum goes beyond simply learning the ABCs. First Baptist of Jensen Beach Preschool is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 school year.

The school plans to open August 24th and will follow the Martin County Academic Calendar. The preschool offers full or part time care for children ages 2 to VPK. The program welcomes children into a creative, warm and inviting environment. The curriculum incorporates the best practices in early childhood development.  The goal is to provide an enriched learning environment supporting a child's social emotional development.

"We will teach children how to write their names, learn shapes, numbers, and we'll also teach them about Jesus," said Angela Warren, Director of First Baptist Jensen Beach Preschool.

Angela Warren has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management and has worked with preschoolers for over ten years. Cecilia Thompson, who is part of the staff and helped start the preschool, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and is the Founder of Hope Center for Autism in Jensen Beach.  She has been teaching for over 15 years.

The VPK program will incorporate the Abeka Curriculum along with the Scholastic and Creative Curriculum.  The Preschool 2’s and 3’s will focus on learning through the Abeka program as well.

Children in the pre-kindergarten age group are more receptive to physical learning than lecture-based methods, said Warren. The activities planned are designed to help the children learn the basics of kindergarten and the Christian faith.

Hours of operation are 8am – 5pm.  Morning (half day program) is offered from 8am-noon and includes a lunch time.  Extended care is available for all children.  First Baptist Jensen Beach Preschool understands the economic needs of today’s families and offers competitive prices for enrollment.
