Launch of the Asia Pacific Future 100 program

Providing Asia’s most inspiring young entrepreneurs as role models to our youth

Aug. 1, 2009 - PRLog -- The Foundation for Youth Entrepreneurship (FYSE) launched today the inaugerational Future 100 program in Asia Pacifici, a program aiming to inspire young people to become entrepreneurs.

As many countries cannot create adequate jobs to integrate all young people into the economy, youth entrepreneurship has emerged as alternative, as it integrates unemployed youth into the labor market and tackles poverty through the creation of jobs.

However, many young people in Asia, even while suffering from unemployment, do not consider entrepreneurship as a desired career option as it has a negative image in their society or because society provides a negative image of entrepreneurs. In addition to the negative image young people entrepreneurial lack role models, young entrepreneurs of similar background and from their country who have succeeded and therefore could inspire young people to follow them suit.  Furthermore young entrepreneurs in Asia face various challenges due to their age including the lack supporting mechanism such as networks, training and mentoring.

FYSE believes that contrary to the common perception there are not just 2 or 3 successful young entrepreneurs in Asia, but that there are many young entrepreneurs and social Changemakers realizing their dreams and ambitions.  For that reason we annually identify 100 of those young entrepreneurs, who will be extensively profiled to young people in Asia through blog’s, interviews and videos to inspire other young people through their stories. To reach out to young people Future 100 fellows will go to school and universities and share their experience directly with young people.

The Nomination period for the program will last from the 1st May till the 31st of August and all young entrepreneurs and Social Changemakers under the age of 30 years from Asia Pacific are eligible to apply.  Throughout their one-year fellowship Asia Pacific Future 100 fellows will receive mentorship and technical assistance as well as access a network of likeminded entrepreneurs to elevate their business performance.

The program will be launched in Asia Pacific in 2009 and scaled to other regions including the Middle East in 2010.

The Foundation for Youth Social Entrepreneurship (FYSE) is a regional organization inspiring and empowering young people to make innovative suggestions and actions to create positive change and real impact in their communities, their countries and Asia.
Vision: Asia’s young people are inspired and empowered to change their community for good.
