"Bam Bam Bolay" rented the air when the "Charri Mubarak", the holy mace of Lord Shiva, was taken out from its abode at the Dashnami Akhara near here, on the last leg of this year’s pilgrimage to naturally formed Ice Shivlingam in the Amarnath cave in South Kashmir Himalayas.

The custodian of the holy mace, Mahant Deepender Giri, holding the Charri-Mubarak in his hands earlier led a large number of devotees, including sadhus, to offer puja in the Dashnami Akhara temple, which houses the holy mace.
Hailing the local population for extending all help for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage, which started from June 16 from shortest Baltal route and June 26 from traditional Pahalgam track, he said, the annual pilgrimage brings people from different faiths together.
The Charri will stay for a night at Pahalgam, where puja will be held in Ganesh temple across the river Lidder at Ganeshbal.
However, on way to Pahalgam, 100 km from here, ‘Punjan’ were performed at Surshwar temple at Sonawar, Shiv temple at Pampore, Shiv temple at Bijbehara and Martand Tirth at temple town of Mattan.
Mahant said Punjan will continue at Pahalgam, the traditional base camp of the Amarnath cave tomorrow at Ekadashi.
However, the devotees along with the holy mace will leave for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the track on August 2 for a night halt there.
On ‘tryodashi’
The holy mace will be taken inside the Amarnath temple on August 5, on the occasion of Purnima (Raksha Bandhan) and will start return journey the same day. After night halt at Panchtarni on the following day on Pratipada, it will stay at Pahalgam for a night where ‘Punjan’ and ‘Visarjan’
He said traditional Kari-Pakouri Bhandara will be organised for sadhus which marks the culmination of the pilgrimage of Amarnath and the Charri will be brought back to its Abode at Srinagar.

Meanwhile, another batch of around 2500 pilgrims left for the holy cave from traditional Pahalgam route for paying obeisance to Lord Shiva.
More than 3.67 lakh yatris have performed darshan of the naturally-formed Ice-Lingam in 3880-metre high cave.
Nearly 70,000 pilgrims proceeded through traditional Pahalgam route while nearly three lakh preferred shorter Baltal route to perform the yatra.
Meanwhile, another pilgrim died due to cardiac arrest near the holy cave today taking death toll in this year's yatra to 44.
Madan Giri son of Mangal Giri, a resident of Haryana, suffered heart failure at the upper camp outside the holy cave.
