Courtney Loceff has been showing her art at fairs throughout South Florida, mainly in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami Dade counties for over 10 years. She moved to Port St Lucie on Florida's Treasure coast two years ago, mainly for the benefit of her growing family - and although she was delighted with the hometown atmosphere, she was more than disappointed with the local art scene.
"I pride myself on being a native Floridian - I grew up on the beach" says Loceff, 32 "but there are only so many paintings of palm trees, fish and boats that I can take" . Courtney is known for bold and colorful abstract art, and her unique style has been described as sensual and psychedelic. "I feel art is about raw expression, and although I appreciate the calming effect of a stereotypical Florida painting, I wouldn't call it cutting edge, and to me that is what art is about - we can push those artistic boundaries up here on the Treasure Coast - we don't have to go to south beach to find new, exciting art"
Loceff, who showcases her original artwork on http://www.courtneyloceff.com is aiming to find like minded artists in and around the treasure coast, and hopes to create an alternative art fair in the Port St Lucie area in the upcoming months - with no sailboats allowed.
