Houston-based Classical Pianist Jade Simmons has been named
Music for Autism's first-ever Spotlight Artist. In light of Jade's previous contributions and interest in doing more, the New York based organization is hosting their first concert in Houston at the Westview School with Simmons as the guest artist. The concert is a part of the 6th Annual Walk Now For Autism Kick-Off Party which will be held Saturday, August 15 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at The Westview School. The concert portion starts at 3pm and following the concert will be an informational for interested area musicians and families looking to get involved.
“We’re so excited about the kick-off party. Respite care will be provided during the walk presentation, where we’ll share tips on fundraising and what to expect on walk day,” says Nikhi Young, Texas Walk Manager, Autism Speaks. “Walker materials and healthy refreshments will be provided. But the highlight will be a family-friendly concert provided by Music for Autism featuring pianist Jade Simmons.”
Known for her musical creativity and electrifying stage presence, pianist Jade Simmons is committed to expanding the boundaries of Classical music. Her debut record for E1 Music (formerly Koch Records) titled Revolutionary Rhythm features an eclectic mix of American works for piano and was released nationwide on March 24, 2009. She will feature some of the music from her CD at the Westview School concert.

The Westview School is located in West Houston at 1900 Kersten Dr., just off Hammerly at Beltway 8.
