Clarendon Serviced Apartments reaches new heights!

July 31, 2009 - PRLog -- On 19th July Peter Morgan Head of Marketing and Market Development at Clarendon Serviced Apartments and team set out from Gatwick Airport at 05.30am with one thing on their mind...to complete the ‘3 Peaks Challenge’. This involved climbing the three highest mountains in the UK; Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, travelling 800+ miles between them, climbing a combined height of 11’000 feet and walking close to 26 miles. Oh yes one last detail........... all under 24 hours!

The team nicknamed ‘The 3 Peako’s’ battled through all weathers, from torrential rain and chilling winds at the top of Ben Nevis, through thick fog at dawn on Scafell, before hiking the final few miles in glorious sunshine on Snowdon. At times the walk was unforgiving with terrains and environments resembling more that you would expect of a lunar landscape than the green hills of Britain.  
     
As main sponsor, Clarendon Serviced Apartments, leading London serviced apartment providers, is delighted to announce not only did Peter and the team complete the challenge in 23 hrs 12 minutes, 12 seconds, but in doing so they raised in excess of £1700 for Macmillan Cancer Research Fund. Macmillan cares for thousands of unfortunate people and families who face the realities of Cancer each year, helping to make life more comfortable during and after treatment.

Finishing the challenge Peter was delighted with the outcome especially as they’d managed to complete well within the time. ‘The fact that we completed the 3 peaks in itself feels an amazing accomplishment but to have beaten the 24 hours means a lot to us all, it also means we don’t have to rush back for a second attempt! Thank you to everybody for their support and generous donations.
