Screenwriter David Paterson (“Bridge to Terabithia”) returns to short films with “Open Air” an official selection of the Rhode Island International Film Festival.
Paterson will be in Rhode Island at the viewing of ‘Open Air’, which he wrote and produced.
David encourages aspiring filmmakers to “Be creative with your time. Be creative with your money. Be creative with your filming.”
• You can more easily make and correct mistakes on Short films.
• Shorts cost less, take less time and have a wider market than features.
• Shorter time commitments mean your film shoot can fit in a busy actor’s schedule. Lynn Cohen (“Synecdoche, New York,” “Sex and the City,” “Munich”) is the lead in “Open Air.”
• You don’t need a big budget to produce high quality films. David’s first feature, “Love Ludlow” (Sundance 2005) was shot in a handmade set built in the basement of a local church and free locations in David’s hometown.
An Adjunct Professor of screenwriting of NYIT of Manhattan, and serving on the Film Advisory Board for the Savannah and Big Apple Film Festivals, David has served as a panelist for numerous film festivals in the U.S. and abroad, and is in great demand as a guest lecturer and motivational speaker at colleges and Universities, most recently lecturing at Palo Loma University in San Diego and American University in Washington D.C.
David’s unique experience in the film industry, producing one of the most successful micro-budgeted features of 2005 (Ludlow) and one of the highest grossing features in 2007 (Terabithia)
