FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 30, 2009 -
UniBook is proud to announce the publication of Kathleen Richter’s book, “Home Hurts.”

The book takes the reader through a first-person account of family abuse, neglect, and molestation. As with many childhood traumas, the effects of abuse often lie dormant and affect relationships and family for years, and even decades before resurfacing.

For Kathleen Richter, the moment of awakening occurred after her youngest child left home. Depression and thoughts of suicide took her to the brink of disaster.

In her desperation, she contacted the Dr. Phil show and her life was changed by the help she received on the show, and by the wonderful people she met in the process.

Kathleen’s story is more than a story of neglect and abuse. It is also one of recovery. It can provide a guiding light to others who have suffered, and are currently suffering from similar traumas.

About Kathleen Richter: Kathleen grew up with a father who was an abusive alcoholic. Her childhood was filled with abuse and secrets at the hands of her father and his acquaintances. She knew the only way out was to run away and never look back. It wasn’t until her youngest child moved away that she started sinking into that dark hole that consumed her mind at nights. The empty nest syndrome was the start of her downfall, but the memories of her childhood are what brought her to attempting suicide and contacting Dr. Phil.
