Yonkers, NY (Wednesday, June 24, 2009) On Tuesday, June 23, 2009,the Independence Party of Yonkers & Westchester announced its endorsement of John Rubbo for Yonkers City Council in the city's 4th Council District. The endorsement from the Independence Party guarantees Rubbo a line on the ballot in the November election.

"The quality of a democracy is measured by the quality of participation by
ordinary citizens."--- Mission of the New York State Independence Party

"I have entered into this race to give the people of the 4th City Council District a choice," states Rubbo. The Independence Party of New York State believes in giving voters an opportunity to choose who will represent them in elected office. This year's 4th Council District race provides Republicans with a choice and the Independence Party of Westchester has solidified that objective by endorsing Rubbo as an Independent thinker who has a clear passion for the City of Yonkers and for its people.

"I want to publicly thank Dr. Cavallo and the members of the Independence Party of Westchester for believing in an Independent thinker who plans on getting 'back to basics.'   Government's primary responsibility is to service the quality of life issues of its residents and as a councilman I promise to enhance that service for the people of the 4th District," says Rubbo.  This endorsement affirms Rubbo's candidacy and strengthens the already solid base of support Rubbo has built over the past month, since entering into this Council race.  John Rubbo also stated, "I will continue to work for the support of the Republican voters in this district and will work just as hard for the people of the Independence Party."

*Note: 4th City Council District Seat
Due to term limits Liam McLaughlin can no longer seek re-election to this City Council seat. The election process takes place every four years.

The 4th City Council District includes Bronx River Road, parts of Miles Square Road & Kimball Avenue, Yonkers Avenue, McLean Avenue, the Yonkers Raceway, the former Stewart Stamping site and the southern part of Central Park Avenue.
