Keeping Antique Furniture Looking Beautiful

A lot of the prized antique furniture, which is still in use today, looks better than ever as the natural colour mellows and matures, and the patina continues to shine, rewarding the owner for the TLC it has received.

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 29, 2009 -
The day your furniture arrives it is looking its very best. Polished, dusted and gleaming, it shines across the room, catching your eye. There is no reason, however, that your furniture cannot stay looking this good with the passing of time.

A lot of the prized antique furniture, which is still in use today, looks better than ever as the natural colour mellows and matures, and the patina continues to shine, rewarding the owner for the TLC it has received.

Natural Wood Furniture - Giving your wooden furniture a beauty treatment from time-to-time will enhance the appearance and give continued protection for years of service and pleasure.

All the natural mahogany furniture supplied by Crawleys Furniture has a medium gloss appearance, which is achieved by hand polishing to a high standard using natural beeswax. This is the easiest finish to maintain. Simply apply a quality beeswax or wax polish occasionally to maintain a beautiful luster and a long lasting shine. Work the polish into the grain using a soft cloth and polish to a lustrous sheen.

Always use a natural polish, rather than a silicone-based spray. A regular dust with a soft lint-free cloth is all that is required between polishes. Never use a feather duster on wood, as it may scratch it. Clean spills immediately and never use abrasive cleaners on this lovely natural product.

PVC and Man-Made Materials - Man-made materials are ideal for children’s rooms, kitchens and other areas subjected to hard wear and tear. These materials are easy to clean; just wipe down with soap and water and a damp cloth. Dry with a soft absorbent cloth to avoid streaks, and your furniture is good to go.

Stainless Steel and Chrome - Various cream cleaners and ready-to-use wipes are now available for stainless steel and chrome furnishings around the home. Apply cream to a dry cloth and work into the metal. Continue buffing to a gleaming shine with a clean, soft cloth.

Glass - Probably the easiest surface to keep clean, glass can quickly be restored to a streak-free brilliance. Spray any household glass cleaner across the surface, and polish until dry using a paper towel or absorbent cloth.

Leather - Leather is a natural product and does not appreciate harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Wipe off spills or marks with a damp cloth. Leather may over time become dry, so from time to time give your leather furniture a ‘Spa Treatment’ with a specialist leather cleaner. Work the liquid into the grain using a soft cloth, until it is completely absorbed.
