FPC Workplace Web Poll Data indicates that there are jobs out there, but competing with so many other candidates and having no responses to their resume submissions is the greatest challenge in this economy.
FPC, a national executive search firm, polls job candidates visiting www.fpcnational.com on their perspective on workplace issues.
10,628 respondents surveyed between March 2009 and July 2009, across all industries and job levels answered the following questions:
“What is most challenging in your job search in this economy?”
15% Can't find open jobs to apply to
42% Not getting responses to resumes
18% Having interviews but competing with so many other qualified people
26% Staying positive in a longer job hunt

There is a lot of competition for the jobs and many companies do not have the capacity to respond to the hundreds of resumes they receive for each position. The key is to stand apart from the other resumes. You need to find another way in. Work with a recruiter or network to find people in the company who can refer you. If you just submit your resume online, you will remain among the masses.”
