How to Get, Keep and Be Well Paid in Job made Outskirts Press’ list of top ten best selling books in self-publishing for June of 2009. The book, published in April of 2008 received a five-star (out of five stars) review from the Midwest Book Review, an entity libraries rely on when ordering books for their catalogs. This book not only teaches the behaviors and skills expected and valued in the workplace, but explains why those behaviors and skills and so important to business owners and managers. In addition, the book uses real life situations to help illustrate key points. For example, before the book addresses ethics in the workplace, it looks at ethics in everyday life. One situation examined is the illegal downloading of music.
A good idea for the tone of the book can be ascertained by looking at the book’s table of contents. Every chapter starts by bridging the topic/pop culture reference to the information covered in that chapter. Chapter one is called “The First Date” and is about job interviewing;

This book was written by Jay Goldberg, a former Service Director for Citibank who developed a work readiness certification program called the best in the United States by a member of the National Skills Standard Board during a presentation of the program in Jacksonville, Florida on 01/14/03.
