SYDNEY, Australia. Aurora BioScience Pty. Ltd. today announced that it has achieved registration by the Therapeutics Good Administration (TGA) of the superDimension "inReach" Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy system. The system provides computer assisted lung navigation and access for patients with peripheral lung lesions.
Aurora BioScience entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with superDimension (USA) in March 2009; under the agreement Aurora Bioscience will be exclusively responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution in both the Australian and New Zealand markets.

"We believe that the inReach system, with its focus on early stage identification of lesions could aid significantly in the treatment of lung cancer and improve outcomes. The system is minimally invasive and has the potential for lower complication rates as well."
The superDimension inReach system uses electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy to provide minimally invasive access to lesions deep in the lungs as well as mediastinal lymph nodes. By extending the reach of conventional bronchoscopes, the inReach System enables physicians to diagnose benign and malignant lung lesions enhancing treatment decisions and avoiding the need for higher-risk procedures.

We are expecting the first system to arrive for evaluation at a large Australian hospital in September and have several other institutions very keen to trial the system" stated Mr Banks.
