SHANGHAI, China – English First (EF), the world’s largest language training organization, has launched a search for two teachers to travel the world and share their experiences with EF students as part of a new initiative dubbed The Marco Polo Project.
Successful candidates will be based in Shanghai and embark on expeditions across the globe. Traveling to 15 regions and 44 destinations, the teachers will document their journeys via weekly video lessons and blog posts. “This project,” said EF’s Jeff Mercille, “is a unique way to give our students a glimpse of the wealth of opportunities and experiences that English, as the world’s lingua franca, can unlock for them.”
EF will be accepting applications from qualified candidates until August 23, 2009. “Above all, we are looking for creative, adventurous, and resourceful individuals who have the ability to develop solid lessons and the enthusiasm necessary to bring them to life,” said Mr. Mercille. Applicants should also be native or near-native English speakers and possess passports that allow visa-free or visa-on-arrival travel to most countries.
