As part of ASAP’s picking automation solutions, a new standalone Pick-to-Light application was recently developed and installed. It is completely self-contained, requiring no interfaces to any outside system as orders or kits are set up using the Exacta Manager utility. This standalone system reduces installation time, risk and cost, and is perfect for kitting and other value-add applications. Operators are trained in minutes on how to use the system with little to no learning curve, keeping production moving.
Acculight™ Pick-to-Light devices are installed at each location. The lights can be mounted
on a variety of shelving, including carton-flow rack, pallet rack or tubular rack. Locations,
products and kit combinations are set up through Exacta Manager, Exacta’s web-based
administration utility. Once the products are assigned locations, operators are ready to pick.
To perform picking, the operator simply scans a barcoded kit ID of the kit they would like to
pick. Once scanned into the system, the required locations are lit up to indicate what items
the operator needs to pick. All locations can light up at the same time, or they can light up
in a sequence, instructing the operator to pick the parts in a specific order. Multiple
operators can be picking the same kit in separate zones depending on product slotting for
true parallel processing. Authorized operators can quickly add new kits and components as
well as change components from one location to another.
The system supports different models of Acculight™ Pick-to-Light and ASAP’s PictureView™
