Landscape designs in five categories were submitted for this year’s program – residential, non-residential, small gardens, planting design and specialty project. The criteria used to evaluate submissions included originality and creativity, functionality of design, effective integration of plants and hardscapes, relationship to site, project impact, technical merit and planting design.
The APLD Landscape Design Award “Designer of the Year” was bestowed upon Margie Grace of Grace Design Associates in Santa Barbara, Calif. She also won a Gold Award in the residential design category.

The judging panel was comprised of well known experts in the field including Robin Templar Williams, APLD, Gregory Pierceall, Andrew Wilson, C. Colston Burrell and Norman Booth.
The Association of Professional Landscape Designers is an international organization representing over 1,300 members in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and other countries. Its goal is to advance landscape design as an independent profession and to promote the recognition of landscape designers as highly qualified, dedicated professionals.
