Randy and Donny Vaughn, The Marketing Twins at 1429 Creative, announce their guest for the next edition of the “Double Take Live Broadcast” will be Mike Cope of Heartbeat Ministries. Cope, well-known minister, writer, speaker and blogger, recently served 18 years as the Preaching Minister for the Highland Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas. In addition, Cope still teaches at Abilene Christian University and writes a popular blog, http://www.preachermike.org
The broadcast will be conducted LIVE by teleconference on Tuesday, July 28th at 1:00pm CST.
Cope joined Heartbeat Ministries on July 1st. In a letter posted on their website ( http://www.heartbeat.org ), founder and director, Landon Saunders, says “I am thrilled that Mike will be devoting his talent, creativity, and passion for helping people...he will assume a leading role in Heartbeat’s latest initiative—which involves the use of the 'new media' in the establishment of a world-wide network of small groups focused on what really matters.”
“As more ministries take a strong interest in using 'new media' or 'social media' as a viable communication medium,” says Randy Vaughn, Creative Director at 1429 Creative, “it seemed natural to give Mike a venue to talk about this new role with Heartbeat. If the church is going to connect more effectively with people, it has to understand what social media is and what it is not. Especially when communicating with younger generations, social media has to be more about a community of ideas and information and less about self-promotion.”
This is the 6th edition of the “Double Take Live Broadcast” show, launched in August 2008. The broadcast is a live telephone interview with influential members of the faith community who encourage Christians to live out their faith in the marketplace, school, arts, sports, or in other spheres of influence. Past guests include:
Dr. Rick Lytle, Dean of the College of Business Administration, Abilene Christian University, Abilene, Texas,
Sheila McDoniel, Founder and Creator of Remember4Faith.com and a FaithBuilding Consultant,
Brandon Scott Thomas of Zoe Group (worship) and associate producer at Gary Musick Productions,
Stephanie Brown Trafton, gold medal discus winner in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games,
