San Diego, California — With over 2,000 Comic-Con attendees gathered at the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge on July 24, Rich Scheirmann, creator and host of the online Kick Ass Golf Show, was awarded Best Comedy for his short film, “Star Wars, Episode XVI—Family Dysfunction.”
The film competition and award ceremony were hosted by Lucasfilm and Atom.com.
The humbled Scheirmann expressed his gratitude at winning the award by saying, “Of course I won Best Comedy. My film was the funniest.”
Scheirmann, a Phoenix resident, hosts an online golf series called the Kick Ass Golf Show. The production team will shoot a half-hour TV pilot this fall. (View trailer.)
Tension erupted during the ceremony when an audience member asked Scheirmann if he drew on personal experience to write the winning Family Dysfunction video. Scheirmann, who was beating one of his children at the time, responded, “Who the hell are you?”
