Civil Aeronautics Board executive director Carmelo Arcilla told reporters that the Lucio Tan-owned airline made its intention known during the recently concluded air services agreement between the Philippines and the United Kingdom.PAL confirmed in its latest financial report that it would “evaluate its route network and venture into other route possibilities.”
Manila and London agreed to expand their air-services agreement in the first week of July to accommodate 14 weekly flights between the two countries.PAL, which is expanding its Boeing 777-300 Extended Range fleet for its long-haul flights, was prevented from adding flights to the United States after the US Federal Aviation Administration downgraded the Philippines’
The flag carrier expects to take delivery of two brand-new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in November 2009 and January 2010, as a part of its refleeting program signed in December 2006.
