Autism, Parenting And A Thread Of Hope- Two Parents Fight To Give Their Autistic Sons The World

Being a parent is full of difficult days. Add in two children with autism spectrum disorder and you're lucky to get a day that doesn't hold a difficulty. But two parents are trying to change that.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Jul 25, 2009 – Being a parent is full of difficult days. Add in a disability or two, and those difficult days suddenly become almost everyday. Add in two children with autism spectrum disorder and you're lucky to get a day that doesn't hold a difficulty. But two parents are trying to change that. They are trying to get help for their boys, to get biomedical treatment, and live a happier, fuller life.

“I love my children” says Sylvia Rolfe. “ I love waking to them and spending my days with them,” she says, “I just wish there was more we could do to help them.” Sylvia and her partner Joshua Meier have not one, but two sons facing a lifetime of autism. And they are seeking biomedical treatment for both boys. “The issue for us is the cost, my heart sunk when the nurse told me it would cost around $5,200 per boy, just for the initial tests and intake appointments.”

And so these two parents began their quest to find a way to get the funds to do this. And one day they recieved an email from Jenny McCarthy's site, Generation Rescue, talking about http://www.Lend4Health.org, a company that was helping fund biomedical procedures for autistic children. “So we applied, and held our breathe. What's the worse that could happen? They say no, and we continue seeking ways to do it.”

But one Saturday morning the call came. Tori Tuncan, the founder and sole operator of Lend4Health was willing to help. And so the road begins.

Right now, between private donations at Sylvia's site, http://www.SylviaRolfe.com and lenders on the Lend4Health site, they have raised around $1,700 of the $10,200 needed, by the parent's aren't losing hope.

“We will get there,” says their father, “When Sylvia put's her mind to something, it happens, and we've both put our minds to helping our sons.”

Sylvia and Joshua are parents to 5 children. Only two of the five show signs of autism.

“We want them to have the world, not be trapped in their own little worlds.”

If you would like to donate you can go to http://www.SylviaRolfe.com, or if you prefer to lend the funds to their sons, William and Matthew or another autistic child check out http://www.Lend4Health.org
