The new online skill game QuizBoom.com has interviewed many of the game’s most successful players, who already have won money in the competition. By summarizing answers to the questions “What you are going to do with the money won?” the most common answers showed that people are not going to spend the money for household needs.
As the data shows - a substantial part of the interviewed people is going to use the money to play again, while another part is collecting the money to fulfil small dreams, for example – a foreign trip. Players justify their answers by an argument that different kind of entertainment is the best way to prevent stress caused by the crisis problems.
The first part of the respondents claimed that they constantly invest their money in different games, for example, by buying crosswords and sudoku journals or by playing online skill games. They declare that, by occupying their minds with different tasks, they forget stress and all their problems at least for a while. This is also the main reason, why a part of the players are not going to withdraw the money won, but will continue to invest it in the game.
The second part of the respondents asserted that they are trying to earn money for a special dream, not usual household needs. Some of examples of the player’s dreams are attendance of dance courses and acquisition of driver’s licence. Though, the most popular aim is to save money for a trip.
By analyzing the responses of QuizBoom players about their plans, some implications are evident. First of all, currently it is especially important for people to find ways of relaxation, and different skill games are recognized as a good way of escaping different problems. Secondly, people are not willing to spend the money, which they have earned in skill games, for general household needs. Instead – they’re hoping to fulfil bigger or smaller dreams.
