Yesterday, Mark Buehrle, the dominant southpaw of the Chicago White Sox, executed the eighteenth perfect game in Major League Beseball history. Buehrle retired twenty-seven batters in order to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0 at Cellular Field in front of 28,036 applauding fans. What’s even more interesting is that back in 2007 Buehrle tossed a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers. He becomes the first pitcher since the Randy Johnson in 2004 to pitch multiple no-hitters and the first pitcher since Johnson to throw a perfect game. Johnson did it back on May 18,2004. But like when any pitcher is out there on the mound, several defensive gems can also add extra assurance. With Gabe Kapler coming up in the top of the ninth inning he sent one out to the left field wall at Cellular Field. Kapler tattooed the baseball all the way out to the warning track but Dewayne Wise, Buehrle’s teammate wasn’t about to let his pitcher lose a perfect game. Wise leaped up at the left field wall and robbed Kapler of a home run. While Wise celebrated his spectacular catch, 28,036 fans and Buehrle took a huge sigh of relief. Shortly after Buehrle’s perfect game, he received a call from the President of the United States, Barack Obama. So with two no-hitters already in his young career can he do it again? How much will his card be worth now?
