FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PR Log (Press Release) –
Jul 24, 2009 – “Kurmanbek Bakiev’s, the candidate to the post of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, official election web-site has been attacked by hackers more than 300 times”, - Vugar Halilov, head of the Agency “Flexi Communications” which has developed and was responsible for support of the candidate’s web-site during his election campaign.
“There were undertaken more than three hundred hacker attacks. The majority of them did not represent serious threat and consisted of selection of codes to the control management system. However we have noted 9 serious attempts on the candidate’s web-site. Six of them were from Turkey and other three were carried out from Kyrgyzstan. Because of these attempts, the candidate’s web-site (www.bakiev.kg) functioned with some problems during the voting day. Our IT experts had to stop the site’s operations for 40 minutes in order to prevent possible cracking”, - said Vugar Halilov, the head of Agency «Flexi Communications”, the company that has designed, programmed the candidate’s web-site and rendered technical support during the whole election campaign.
The Internet page www.bakiev.kg has launched on June 18th, 2009 as the informational resource about Kurmanbek Bakiev’s election campaign.
This web-site provided with all necessary information about Bakiev's platform and his course of election campaign. One of the main web-site’s functions was the direct mailing of news about the candidate’s daily trips and speeches around the country. These news have been sending out to more than five hundred mass-media contacts. Visitors of web-site had also an opportunity to leave their questions for the candidate.
During five weeks of the web-site’s operation, it’s been visited by eighteen thousand eighty two persons, including visitors from the USA, Russia, China, Turkey, and the countries of Europe and the CIS. On the election day four hundred seventy six potential voters have have visited the candidate’s Internet page. Worldwide search engines, as Google, Yandex, etc. hold K.Bakiev's portal in the first five popular web-sites, concerning elections in Kyrgyzstan.
The development of web-site was sponsored by the candidate’s election fund.
