The brand new 2010 Transit Connect is Ford Motor Company’s all new, European inspired, small commercial van that will appeal to small business owners and fulfill the need for a fuel efficient work vehicle. The small van has a maximum storage capacity of 143 cubic, while sustaining great fuel economy with 22 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.
Measuring in at 15 feet long the Transit has a turning radius of just 39 feet curb to curb and standing at 6’8” the small commercial van is ideal for businesses that work in tight areas and need the maneuverability that the Transit Connect offers. Loading and unloading cargo is a breeze with the Transit’s 50/50 split barn doors.
Preston Commercial Sales department was delivered five of the new Transit Connects with varying trims and options. The Ford dealer stocks mostly the XLT trim style some boasting the optional 255 degree swinging rear doors, with an MSRP of $23,445. Those without the optional 225 degree rear swinging doors have a MSRP of $21,715 however; each Transit Connect is backed with a 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty.
With the new CARS program taking off July, 24th with the official rules and regulations, the transit connect could not have come at a better time for Preston Ford. The Maryland Ford dealer is a participating dealer in the Car Allowance Rebate System, with some deals already completed under the program. The Transit Connect will open up their line of eligible vehicles to those who qualify. While one billion dollars was allocated for the program, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has stated that only 7% of the funds will be reserved for commercial sales.
