In times, when every company is crucial in the process of contributing into improvement of the external trade balance, in order to revive the Latvian economy, the biggest Latvian data centre operator – DEAC – has increased the export volume.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 24, 2009 -
As distributed amongst the countries, the biggest increase for the service trade was directed towards Finland (45 %), Estonia (8 %), Lithuania (6 %), and the Netherlands (5 %). DEAC has found clients also in countries, where up to now the services rendered by the company had not been used. The clients in Slovakia, Sweden, Spain, and Russia have started using the services of DEAC data centres.

Previously, DEAC has exported the data centre services to clients in more than 20 countries of the world. The biggest export market countries are Finland, the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Iceland.

This year, DEAC has invested plenty of work in development of the services offered to the clients – both by diversifying the already existing services and by introducing new ones. “Within the last half of the year, the range of DEAC services has been supplemented with such services as Data Storage as Services and Data Replication. By modernising the infrastructure of the data centre, we have developed the opportunities provided by the virtual server solutions.

“The foreign clients, even the Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica, which recently became a DEAC client, find our previous and new services attractive,” the chairperson of the board of DEAC, Andris Gailitis, tells about the reasons for the increase in the export volume.

Andris Gailitis indicates that not only goods can be exported, as it is usually is assumed. In Latvia, unjustly forgotten is the service export, including the services rendered by various companies of information technologies. Furthermore, the Latvian IT companies can export not only software.

“By providing the data centre services to foreign clients, we, just like any exporter of goods or services, bring foreign currency to the country, which therefore diminishes the deficit of the state payment balance,” reckons the chairperson of the board of DEAC, Andris Gailitis.

“In these new conditions of globalisation and development of information technologies, it is not as important for the client to have the data centre as close as possible. It is more important that the data centre is safe, well-maintained, as well as that the data are as easily accessible for clients and their partners as possible,” indicates Andris Gailitis.

DEAC is the biggest data centre operator in Latvia offering its clients a broad range of IT outsourcing services, including data centre services, servicing computer technologies and IT, WEB site and system development, hosting services, and consultations. The company has more than 2,000 clients, including the Bank of Latvia, Rietumu Banka, Danske Banka, Inbox.lv, One.lv, Tele2, Seesam Latvija, TV 3 Latvija, The Baltic Times, and other major projects and companies.  DEAC is the official distributor of DELL solutions in Latvia, as well as an official partner of IT companies such as Microsoft, VMware, APC and Doclogix.
