ChessTweets is proud to announce that its inaugural Community vs. Individual game will be played against two-time U.S. Women's champion Jennifer Shahade!
You may participate in this community game by following ChessTweets on Twitter or by visiting the site at http://chesstweets.com.
About Jennifer
Jennifer is wonderful ambassador for the game. She is the web-editor for The United States Chess Federation at http://uschess.org and she recently started a video blog there, the U.S. Chess Scoop. Jennifer also participates in two non-profits, http://9queens.org, of which she is co-founder, and the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis, where she chairs the U.S. Championship committee. Jennifer has made great strides in opening the world's eyes to the prowess of the woman chess player, attributed in large-part to her 2005 book, Chess Bitch: Women In The Ultimate Intellectual Sport.
Jennifer is also very active in showing and expanding the connections between chess and art. She recently co-authored Marcel Duchamp: The Art of Chess and created two videos inspired by her work on the book, Naked Chess and Hula Chess. Keep up with Jennifer on her blog at jennifershahade.com.
About the ChessTweets Experiment
This inaugural Community vs. Individual game serves as one of the early stepping stones in the ChessTweets Experiment which seeks to develop an organic intelligence built on the minds of the world. Players submit "votes" for the best move, and progressive weights are assigned to each vote in correlation to the relative skill of the voter, such that the experiment molds an engine that progressively improves and learns with each game. At such an early stage in the experiment we are very excited to be tested at such a high level of competition, and we encourage everyone to participate.
Play will begin at 7:00 EST on July 22nd with the Twitter community to move first as White. The community moves will then be tallied after 100 votes have been submitted or after a 24-hour period has elapsed, whichever comes first. Jennifer will then have 24 hours to submit her move which will be applied to the board as soon as her submission is sent. To particpate in this game, follow @ChessTweets on Twitter and reply via Twitter with a tweet in the format: "@ChessTweets move comments", where your move is listed in Algebraic Notation (e.g. @ChessTweets Bg5 Pinning the Knight at f6.)
