The company lets consumers listen to voice samples of their favorite celebrity impersonators and other crazy, often times off-color voices and when they find one or more they like, they simply buy the voice, plug a USB cable into their computer and their Garmin and voila...they have a brand new voice to guide them.
When asked if they would be getting real celebrity voices on their devices the company states "Yes, that is in the line up, but you can have so much more fun when you find someone who sounds exactly like them to 'parody' their voice. Our impersonations say so much more than the real person ever probably would."
Ringtones changed the cellphone industry almost overnight. PIG-Tones.com has done for GPS units what ringtones did for cellphones.
The company updates it's voices based on surveys of its customers, asking them what they'd like to hear most. But sometimes they just pick what they think is funny and it usually works out pretty well.
"Whenever we get into conversations about what we do, it seems like everybody has an instant flood of ideas of which voice would be a best seller," Costanzo says "it's a lot of fun."
