San Francisco, Calif. – July 21, 2009 – The Gloomers today announced a new weekly comic strip will be unveiled at Comic Con during the conference in San Diego later this week. http://www.flickr.com/
The Gloomers.com launched recently as a weekly animated cartoon series, and includes an online Gloomingdales merchandise store and “Gloom Rooms” for its community members, where users can vent with their friends. Watch the latest episode here: http://tinyurl.com/
The new comic strip will be written by DC Comics veteran Kelley Puckett and illustrated by Gloomers artist Scotland Barnes.
According to Gloomers CEO Dan Mechem: “We are delighted to have a writer of Kelley’s stature to write the Gloomers weekly comic strip. The comic is a great addition to The Gloomers brand vision. And Scotland Barnes is the perfect illustrator for us, with his whimsical, Gloomers-esque style.”
And remember, no matter how bad your day has been, the Gloomers day is always worse.
About The Gloomers:
CEO Dan Mechem ran the media and entertainment division for Nielsen Buzzmetrics. He also served as Press Secretary to John McCain and was a Fox reporter. The Gloomers carries the torch of a notable cartoon lineage: Mechem is the son of Charles Mechem – former chairman and CEO of Taft Broadcasting, the owner of Hanna-Barbera productions (Flintstones, Yogi Bear, the Jetsons, Scooby Doo, etc.). Flintstones animator Mark West helped create the classic animated look of The Gloomers.
