With the anticipation of Nitro Funny Car’s Gary Densham’s return to the drag strip, a renewed agenda reveals itself as he races down the track at Pacific Raceways in Seattle, Washington. Wrapped across the hood of his car are eight distinct Chinese characters.
What the characters represent is even more important than what it reads. After the NHRA’s prestigious ringing of the opening bell at the NYSE on June 10, the stage was set for a global message. “This is one of the greatest sports. I want to reach out to everyone not just nationally, but internationally in hopes of bringing a uniting message that we in NHRA want to share what we do with everyone in the world.”
With the power of 1.3 billion people in China, it is no wonder why Densham wanted to give recognition to the citizens of the country. “With European and Middle Eastern representation existing within the NHRA, let’s not forget the most populous country in the world,” says Densham.
Many businesses today inherently operate in additional facilities in foreign countries and Densham recognizes that businesses around the world also connect with one another in order to perfect an international presence.
“With ESPN International television being the gateway for NHRA to expand its viewership worldwide, it is especially significant for me as a team owner and driver.
The world’s support will be the foundation that enables our marketing partners to receive global exposure.”
Representing Gary Densham is Christina Kwan, former U.S. National and Amateur World Champion in boxing. With the next race scheduled in Sonoma, California, July 24-26, Densham looks to further extend his global outreach.
