BlueSquare Data Implements Solid Power Protection In The Data Centre

Chloride, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and services, today announced that BlueSquare Data, a leading colocation provider is using Chloride’s 90-NET UPS systems at its Milton Keynes data centre. In doing so, BlueSquare Data is providing its clients with total, round-the-clock protection for all its colocation services.

BlueSquare Data’s services include the provision of full racks, secure cages and private suites at its Maidenhead and Milton Keynes sites. With demand for colocation services having increased over the past few years, the firm needed to continue providing a secure and reliable service to its clients. Its systems are tailored to the specific requirements of clients, ranging from managed services for the most complex colocation projects for large multinationals, to simply hosting applications on a remote server.

BlueSquare Data required power protection tailored to its specific requirements, which would comfortably support the increasing load demands of a customer base of over 2,000 organisations, ranging from SMEs to major public sector organisations. Power supply to customer applications is critical and the company chose Chloride because of its proven track record in providing UPS systems that can support the changeable and demanding environment of the data centre.

The ability to support future expansion was a key factor and BlueSquare Data therefore opted for eight Chloride 90-NET 500 kVA UPS units in N+N configuration. The 90-NET UPS systems can be installed with up to eight units in parallel, making future upgrades possible with minimal disruption, effectively future-proofing the customer’s investment.

BlueSquare Data is also using Chloride’s leading LIFE.net remote monitoring and diagnostic system to ensure that the UPS systems stay operational and that any issues are rectified before they affect the day-to-day running of the data centre. “The LIFE.net system is invaluable to our operations,” Munson says. “We are using it to compile reports on the performance of the system and we can also proactively monitor the loads and see whether they are growing.”
