This is a wonderful snuffbox made by the Birmingham silversmith, Nathaniel Mills. It is fully hallmarked on the silver gilt interior of the hinged lid and base. The box is rectangular, with a bombe base repousse and chased with scrolls and flower heads, leaf-capped corners. The hinged lid is engine turned on the lip, the top of the lid is cast and chased with a bacchanalian scene set within a framework of cast and chased flower heads. The underside of the base is engine turned. This would be an added conversation piece to any collection. The box is in very good condition and is of very heavy gauge. Length: 3 3/4 inches. Weight: 8.5 Troy Ounces.
