Tarrytown House Estate & Conference Center Hires First Canine Employee!

July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- The Tarrytown House Estate & Conference Center, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, is proud to introduce its newest employee, “Lady,” a year-old black Labrador retriever.  The playful new “Lady of the Estate” now holds one of the most important jobs at the conference center – chasing geese and deer away from the 26-acre property!  

The conference center’s lush, beautifully manicured lawns have always been a tempting rest stop and snack bar for geese as they travel south in the winter and back north in the spring.  Previously, the Tarrytown House relied on a weekly service that brought in a border collie to keep these pesky “guests” at bay, but the once-a-week visit just wasn’t enough to get the job done.

“We decided we really needed a full time staffer to deal with this problem, and that’s when we adopted “Lady,” said Joe Santore, General Manager. “She lives right here on the estate, and is proving to be quite an asset to us!”  

In addition to chasing geese off the lawn and deer away from the shrubs and flowers, “Lady” is also a happy, friendly greeter for human guests.  In fact, she even has her own Facebook page, a fan club and an email address:  lady@tarrytownhouse.com.
On any given day, “Lady” can be seen scurrying about the lush lawns, keeping the geese from moving in.  “She’s doing a fantastic job for us, and we’re happy that we can provide her with a beautiful place to live and work,” added Santore.
