July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- It has only been a few short weeks since the world experienced the tragic news that the King of Pop, Michael Jackson had died.  The surge of traffic slowed the internet and crashed sites by the sheer volume of fans worldwide searching for news and wanting to share their disbelief and grief.

With the media presence of the US, the UK and other major countries one is not always so aware of the influence Michael Jackson had on fans in countries not so familiar. Unless something sensational like the video of the Phillipino prisoners dancing to Thriller circulates, many fans worldwide exist in obscurity.  In Minsk, web programmer Alex and his friend, both hyper Michael Jackson fans, set to work immediately. The web is a natural outlet for them and when the news hit them they immediately went to work on a memorial tribute to their fallen king. In just three days they had built and were launching a website, mykingisdead.com to enshrine their own remembrances and those of fans everywhere.

The website has several ways fans may express their feelings and thoughts. The Wall, a page where fans may write their expressions, shows those in random graffiti scripts and colors, making a beautiful, scrolling graffiti cloud of fans' adorations. Fans may also light a candle in remembrance of Michael. The candle page is also a long, scrolling page of votives "lit" by fans and a scan of the names shows them to be from every corner of the Earth.

A pixel portrait is being created on another page. Fans may upload their photo to the site and it will become a pixel in a portrait of Michael Jackson. Once the 3500 fans necessary to complete it have uploaded their images, the portrait will be printed and presented to the Michael Jackson Family and others will be presented to museums and organizations that have an interest.

Another event planned for 25th of July is a balloon launch in remembrance of Michael. The release of balloons will take place over the rolling hills of a peaceful countryside setting south of Minsk. News of the launch is starting to hit the major media in the region.

Though there are free features on the site, many fans have been generous in helping to support the site with the several features for a fee. Alex says the site is intended to be a perpetual memorial and plans for it to be around for generations to see the words and tributes of Michael's fans and how much he meant to them. As the news presence of Michael's untimely death begins to wane and fans return to normal routine, Alex wants the world to never forget the King of Pop, Michael Jackson who committed his life to give so much to his fans. On mykingisdead.com he will not be forgotten.

Of course there's the US, Canada and UK, France, Germany, Italy, and all the major countries of Europe and America North to South. You will also find names of fans from countries.
