The testimonials keep coming in for Rutgers Mini-MBA™ courses created by the Center for Management Development (http://www.cmd.rutgers.edu/)
“This course was valuable for the cost and learning was a joyful experience,”
Also attending the course coming from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was Bakr Fallatah, who works for Saudi Telecom. “I was looking to get more management skills quickly,” said Fallatah. “I have a lot of experience in management, but it has been beneficial to get the latest information.”
Other professionals sounded a similar tune, “This course sparked new ideas that I will use in my career,” said Carrie Griesser, a Senior Program Manager at Campbell Soup Company. “It’s been a long time since I was in school. This helps me get out of the routine and gets me thinking about higher concepts,” said Griesser who is responsible for coming up with new soup ideas for Campbell.
The intensive courses fill a need for professionals looking to get a refresher on the latest trends in business and management. Tailored as either week-long courses done all at once or weekly three-hour courses that last over three months, the classes give professionals flexible training options.
Classes focus on MBA essentials like finance, economics, and management, but there are also specific courses designed at the MBA level for health care management and biopharma. “Using the latest research, our world-class Rutgers faculty and industry leaders lead interactive group sessions that examine current trends and apply proven concepts to 'real-life' situations,”
One of the successes the Mini-MBA™ program has pioneered is introducing "Strategic Healthcare Management" for second-year residents, hospital administration and community doctors at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. “We wanted to have our residents learn more about hospitals as a business,” said Joan McCormick, who works for St. Peters University Hospital administration and is the wife of Rutgers President Richard McCormick. “The interaction between the administration and doctors was amazing. This is a group that doesn’t always understand each other and to get them talking about what is happening right now in health care benefited everyone.”
The next “Strategic Healthcare Management” course is scheduled for this September along with other Mini-MBA™ courses. “Demand has been stellar for this course and the others,” said Weiss. “We are really providing what professional folks are asking for in this economic environment.”
