Sutton Capital news correspondent reporting from the US on the latest developments in the airline industry.
Last week Boeing reported that it had 17 orders canceled; this was on top of another 15 that was previously reported by Sutton Capital.
However they did report on their website that another 9 orders for commercial aircraft had come in.
Sutton Capital notes that the year up to June 2009 has been a tough year for Boeing. They have had in total 84 cancellations and they have had orders of 85. This for the year is only a net total of 1 aircraft to be built.
Actual aircraft that have been built during the year so far comes to 246. Boeing expects another 126 commercial planes to be built in the last 2 quarters of 2009. Explains Sutton Capitals senior analyst.
Boeing also reported that it would be postponing the release of its latest aircraft the groundbreaking 787. This caused a small drop in the share price. But the worst of the economic downturn has passed and Boeing has a healthy future ahead especially when the 787 launches. Boeing is currently the number two plane maker but Sutton Capital analysts believe the once the new 787 launches it could become the number one plane maker within 2 years.
