Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal agency known as ICE, recently announced it had sent notices announcing audits of hiring records to 652 companies across the country.  This is part of the Obama administration’s shift in strategy on enforcing current immigration laws.  The new strategy shifts attention away from illegal workers to the employers that knowingly hire them.  Significant fines are issued to those companies found out of compliance with the law.
