July 18, 2009 - PRLog -- Singer/Songwriter Kasim Sulton will be performing a short-set 45 minute acoustic solo gig in the Akron City Centre Hotel ballroom on September 6, 2009 at 1pm. Tickets are only $10 each and will be on sale beginning July 25th at www.KasimStore.com.

Just a few hours following his solo gig, Kasim will be taking the stage as the bass player for the sold out first-ever performance of Todd Rundgren's "A Wizard, A True Star" live, which is being held at the Akron Civic Theatre.  A second AWATS live performance will take place the following night in the same venue and tickets are still available.  More information is available at AWATSlive.com.

Brooklyn-born Sulton began his career playing piano for David Bowie's publicist Cherry Vanilla, before joining Todd Rundgren's prog-rock group Utopia in 1976. Kasim played bass and sang vocals in the band for 10 years. During that time, they released 6 studio albums and Kasim took on more of the lead vocals of the group as well. Kasim also wrote their only Top Thirty hit, “Set Me Free.”

Kasim has been a part of Meat Loaf’s band since 1993 and in 1998 became his Musical Director. Kasim also has the distinction of being the only musician, apart from Meat Loaf, who performs on each track of all three Bat Out Of Hell albums.  The first Bat Out of Hell album sold an estimated 37 million copies worldwide and Rolling Stone magazine ranked it in the top 500 greatest albums of all time.  In recent years, Kasim has also been making his name as a producer, having produced the Meat Loaf album StoryTellers in 1999, and Rick Reynolds' album Unstoppable in 2005.

Kasim released his solo album, “Quid Pro Quo,” in 2002 to critical acclaim by both critics and fans alike, and in 2003, it won the Kweevak.com Viewers’ Choice Award.  In 2007, Kasim released a double compilation CD called “All Sides” which includes new tracks, live tracks and personal favorites from his other solo albums.  In December of 2008, he released his first ever solo DVD, An Evening With Kasim Sulton - Live in Atlanta.

Critics worldwide have praised Kasim’s talents. Mike O'Cull from ChicagoGigs.com, says: "Kasim is a songwriter of uncommon gifts. I cannot recommend this performer highly enough to anyone who is a fan of pop music or singer/songwriters in general. He was simply one of the best I've ever seen."
