Preston Autoplex Opens CARS Qualifier For Maryland and Delaware Customers

Yesterday Preston Automotive Group held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their CARS Information Center, welcoming guests and providing information about the CARS program and how they can qualify.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 17, 2009 -
The Preston Autoplex located in Preston Maryland cut the ribbon July 16, 2009 and opened the doors to the CARS Qualifier Center, welcoming car shoppers and informing them on how to qualify for the program.  Those in attendance were Maryland State Senator Richard Colburn, President of Preston Automotive Group David Wilson Sr. and other members of Preston Automotive Group’s CARS Champion Team.
Senator Colburn stood by Preston’s trademark Frog as he cut the ribbon to the CARS Qualifier Center at Preston.  David Wilson Sr. thanked Senator Colburn for attending the event while light refreshments were served following the ribbon cutting.
David Wilson and others of Preston’s CARS Champion team explained that the Preston Automotive Group had already accepted over a dozen deals traded under the CARS guidelines with 9 of the first 12 cars traded being Ford vehicles such as Broncos, Explorers and Expeditions.
Although the majority of vehicles traded were Ford models, 7 of the 9 customers opted to purchase another more fuel efficient Ford model.  One couple traded in their 1985 Bronco and purchased a new Ford Focus, receiving a $4500 voucher for their trade.
The Preston Autoplex statistics may conclude that Ford may be the leading brand for purchases under the new CARS program since Preston’s lot consists of three other franchises; Nissan, Hyundai and Mazda.
The CARS program officially started July 1, 2009 although the final program rules will not be released until the 24th of July, as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently drawing up the rules and regulations for qualification and implementing a system for dealerships participating in the program to redeem rebates given to customers.
The program is set to end November 1, 2009 or until the 1 billion dollars allocated for the program is depleted in which case it is uncertain whether congress will invest more money in to the CARS act.
The CARS program or the Car Allowance Rebate System was initiated by congress to provide cash vouchers to new car buyers trading in their inefficient vehicles or “clunkers” and purchasing new more fuel efficient vehicles receiving a credit of up to $4500.
