The scented candle company manufactures and sells candles online from their Vineland NJ facility. Apart from the wicking process, all of the work to create A Cheerful Giver candle is done in house. The wicking process is outsourced as part of their special needs partnership in Vineland. 100% of the wicking process is completed by special needs adults. These mentally challenged adults work as little as 5 minutes a day or as much as 5 hours a day wicking candle jars...it’s all up to them. At the end of the day, each of the “Wickers” receives a paycheck that they bring home to their families.
The owners of A Cheerful Giver, Tony and Susan Gross, have a strong passion for helping others to realize their dreams and fulfill their goals. Assuming ownership of the candle company was an outlet for them to pursue their own, and the special needs partnership creates a bridge for others to do the same.
According to Tony Gross, “We feel so blessed to be given the opportunity to bring these wonderful products to our retailers and to consumers. We just want others to have the same opportunity to fulfill their dreams like we did. No matter who you are or where you come from, we want people to know that they can do anything if they put their minds to it. Our special ‘wickers’ help to remind us of that every day.”
